Coen brothers' spy comedy divides critics

The Coen brothers' latest film- the madcap comedy Burn After Reading- has sharply dual-lane the critics, unlike last year's acclaimed No Country For Old Men which won foursome Oscars including best picture.

Early reviews of the eagerly-awaited picture have begun to appear following its man premiere at the Venice film festival, which brought A-listers George Clooney and Brad Pitt, and hundreds of screaming fans, to the bolshevik carpet.

Trade newspaper publisher Variety panned the comic spy lampoon, calling it a "flame-out".

"Nothing about the project's instruction execution inspires the feeling that this was ever intended as anything more than a lark, which would be fine if it were a good one," wrote Todd McCarthy.

"As it is, interview teeth-grinding sets in other and ne'er lets up."

Many of the warm words he had for Burn After Reading were reserved for Pitt, appearing in a Coen film for the number one time.

Like respective other critics, McCarthy praised Pitt's depiction of a naive, overactive gym instructor who tries to gouge money from a pillaged CIA analyst whose raw memoirs he stumbles across when a computer disc is dropped by accident.

"Pitt slices the ham identical thick so, but uniquely emerges as endearing in doing so," he said.

At the other end of the scale was Screen International's Lee Marshall, world Health Organization called the movie "a beautifully produced mix of spy story, US zeitgeist satire and relationship drama".

"(Burn) is a smart urban screwball funniness about the perils of idiocy that uses its all-star draw to glary and often hilarious effect."

Wendy Ide of the Times in London gave the film quatern stars out of five-spot, and singled out Pitt and John Malkovich as the best performances.

Malkovich is the heavy-drinking, aggressive CIA analyst, while Clooney, appearance in his third Coen movie, plays an exercise-obsessed federal marshal who cheats on his wife.

Ide's primary reservation is that the cast of characters it would be fair to describe as idiotic fails to elicit much sympathy in the audience.

"It would perhaps be more rewarding if we could like the characters as well as laugh at them," Ide concludes.

Kirk Honeycutt of The Hollywood Reporter, in a sundry review, calls Burn "a minor part of silliness with all the furnishing of an A-list studio movie".

In conclusion, he quotes a line from a CIA military officer in the movie world Health Organization has simply been told about the baffling serial of events surrounding the missing memoirs.

"Report back to me when it makes sense."

Highlights From EULAR 2008, The Annual European Congress Of Rheumatology

Half of patients with early rheumatoid arthritis treated with the anti-tumour mortification factor inhibitor (anti-TNF) infliximab plus amethopterin achieve remission, and up to one in cinque achieve drug-free remission, according to five-year follow-up results from the BeSt C154% charge per unit over clock time was most twice as high with infliximab (odds ratio 1.97; p=0.04). Sustained remission was achieved in 31% of the FIN-RACo group, and 40% of the patients also treated with remicade.

Radiological progression was besides better with the remicade combination. Just over half (54%) had a Sharp/van der Heijde score (SHS) - a measure of joint damage on X-ray - of 0 at two years, compared to 41% of patients toughened with the FIN-RACo. The mean change of SHS over the two long time was 1.4 in patients treated with FIN-RACo, compared to -0.2 in those also treated with infliximab (p=0.005).

The enquiry group, light-emitting diode by M. Leirisalo-Repo, from Helsinki University Central Hospital, Helsinki, Finland, said: "Adding infliximab to intensive use of FIN-RACo in early active RA during the first hexad months reflected in higher frequencies of remissions over time and prevented radiological progression during two years."4

Initial combination therapy prevents os loss in RA

Initial combination therapy with remicade or deltasone is associated with less reduction in bone mineral density (BMD) in the hand than other treatment strategies, show further results from the BeSt Study.

The Dutch study randomised 508 patients with recent onset, active RA to sequential monotherapy or come out combination therapy, both starting with amethopterin, combination therapy with a tapered high dose of prednisone, sulphasalazine and amethopterin, or remicade plus methotrexate. Bone density was calculated by digital X-ray radiogrammetry in both hands, in the rosehip and spinal column in 218 patients, at baseline and after one and two years.

Results showed significantly greater BMD loss in the work force (-2.5%) at deuce years, than in the hip (-0.5%) and spine (-1.0%), indicating that it provides a useful measure over a relatively short time period of time. Initial combination therapy with infliximab or prednisone was associated with less hand BMD loss than initial monotherapies ( -1.6% with infliximab combination therapy and -1.4% with prednisone-based treatment vs -3.6% with sequential monotherapy and -3.3% with come forward combination therapy).

Progression of erosions was independently associated with increased BMD loss in the hands and hip later one year.

The research group, from Leiden University Medical Center, Leiden; Haga Hospital, the Hague, and VU Medical Center, Amsterdam, the Netherlands, commented: "Initial combination therapy with remicade or prednisone is associated with less hand BMD loss due to more rapid, equal suppression of disease activity compared to initial monotherapy." They added: "The association between progressive joint legal injury and both hand and hip BMD loss suggests common pathways between these processes in RA."5

Falkenbach is the one-person black metallic element project of multi-instrumentalist Vratyas Vakyas (once guitarist with Crimson Gates), wHO is based in Düsseldorf, Germany, merely reportedly hails from Iceland, and subscribes to the genre's more than epic style, prevalent with keyboards, Viking themes, and folks music tendencies (a possible grounds for making up those unconfirmed Icelandic roots). Active under the Falkenbach assumed name since 1995, when no less than threesome demos dead emerged (Laeknishendr, Skinn Av Sverdhi Sol Valtiva, Asynja), Vakyas recorded two albums in 1996's ...En Their Medh Riki Fara and 1997's ...Magni Blandinn Ok Megintiri, before turn his attention to his record mark Skaldic Art Productions. He ultimately revived Falkenbach in 2003 and really drafted early musicians (vocalizer Tyrann, guitar player Hagalaz, and drummer Bolthorn) to help oneself verboten with third base album Ok Nefna Tysbar Ty, but he was back to his solo ways by the discharge of its reexamination, Heralding the Fireblade, in 2005.
